I was proud to be asked to photograph another event for Earlier.org - a group dedicated to finding an earlier detection test for breast cancer. This month they featured Brendan McDonough, author of Granite Mountain - My Lost Brothers and subject of the movie Only The Brave. Brendan is the sole survivor of his fire department who all perished in a wildfire in 2013. His story is one of tragedy and overcoming and he spoke to the crowd of 125 at The Terrace in Greensboro recently. It was fascinating to listen to Earlier.org founder Martha Kaley speak about how fighting a fire has so many similarities to fighting breast cancer. It was very thought-provoking! I highly recommend you support the mission at Earlier.Org and purchase Brendan's book and see the movie!
A local group of first responders "Fishing for a Cure" presented Martha with a check for $20,000! It was amazing to listen to the stories of how they achieved their goal of helping fund research for breast cancer early detection and all the connections that gave them the desire to help! Way to Go!
