I'm so lucky! Today I got to photograph adorable dogs at Earlier.org's Sherlock 5K here in Greensboro.
Here's what Earlier.org says about the Sherlock 5K in case you don't know!
October is national breast cancer awareness month, perfect timing for the Sherlock 5K Dogwalk. This event is being held to raise important research funding for Earlier.org - Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test®. Earlier.org has one objective: Identifying a biological test for the EARLIER DETECTION of breast cancer. It is a goal that can and will be achieved and it will change the picture of breast cancer forever.
The Sherlock 5K is named after the chocolate lab whose playful scratch led to the detection of Martha Kaley, the founder of Earlier.org’s, breast cancer. Just 3 short months before Sherlock accidentally scratched Martha during their morning play session, Martha’s mammogram had been reported as ‘clear.’ Sherlock’s scratch created a straight line bruise that literally pointed to the exact spot on Martha’s body where the cancer was found. Upon inspection, Martha felt a mass at the base of the bruise. Without Sherlock’s scratch her cancer may have gone undetected.
Sherlock has since passed, but what better way to honor this best friend and raise awareness and critical research funding for this very important cause than to host a K9 - 5K in his name?! This event is so much more than just a 5K…it is a day of fun and activities for the whole family (including the 4-legged ones!) that is an annual event for the whole family!
I photographed some of the cute dogs at the event and for a $10 donation per image, their moms and dads can download a high res image and have beautiful prints made of their furry friend! Here's a link to the portraits I took today — including a few candids that I included because they are so cute too!
